Understanding allows a flow of feeling between beings that encourages expression and growth. Understanding provides relief from judgment allowing compassion to flow.
Understanding is healing that we can offer ourselves and each other when mistakes are made. Understanding opens the door for empathy and kindness. When understanding allows us to have empathy and to give our kindness we are assisting in the growth of ourselves and others.
We apply understanding to ourselves as part of self-healing. To allow for self healing, it is important to be truthful with ourselves. Sometimes there are actions we perform that cause harm. When we come to the understanding that we have caused harm, the first step is to acknowledge the impact. The next step is to acknowledge our action. The step afterwards is understanding the reason behind our action. This takes reflection. Once we understand the processes behind our actions, we can empathize (with our self) and then…. (the best part) we can can forgive our self. Truthfully speaking, it is God within us, forgiving us. It is God within us showing us what was behind our actions.
Often the actions we feel the most remorse for are those that hurt others. No one (really) wants to hurt another. Understanding allows us to see with compassion both the cause and the impact. Understanding allows us to have self empathy and empathy for the other person. After we understand and forgive ourselves we can then acknowledge that the same being that lives in ourselves lives in others. We can go to that person that we’ve hurt and acknowledge that God lives in them and ask for forgiveness from God in them.
Understanding is a gift that we can share.
