Z is for Zen

zen/
noun / emphasizes the value of meditation and intuition.

Zen is a word that calms me down upon my thinking and hearing it. Zen is the space where you can “feel” omnipresent force flowing in all of its wisdom which immediately implements healing and expansion.

Being contracted is stressful. Living the social environment into which we are born and to keep the order of it, we must contract and conform. Because of this we have built in stress. Later we have to find ways to "unwind" which is really expanding.

When most babies are born they extend their arms and legs. Some animal babies immediately stand. In the case of babies born in institutions, they are immediately tied up tight, wrapped and virtually bound. Later when in the arms of the mother, they are often unwrapped as our innate intuition kicks in on a deeper level. We know that the binding of arms hands and fingers goes against the nature of our ability to reach out, explore and expand.

At birth, we often begin our exploration with our hands. Elephants with their trunks. Other animals with their noses.  Being bound is a form of being contracted which is against our true and inner nature which is always expanding from within. Zen allows us to “reset” back to the immediate present which is a very expansive space. We can think and do things in our present that create experiences in the near and far future.

Zen is the space where one can perceive the timeless flow of, tranquility, peace, experience balanced breathing, deep restful sleep, expansion, awareness, presence, inspiration, patience, harmony, beauty, grace, radiance and  luxurious serenity.

Zen is… where God is.
Be well, be happy.... get into your zen space today!

Y is for You

You is for You
yo͞o,yə/
pronoun
used to refer to the person or people that the speaker is addressing.
used to refer to any person in general.

You are the “I” (am) of the person I am seeing, addressing and connecting with. You are the expression of God that is seeing, addressing and speaking to the “I” (am) in me.

You are and I am are the same being in different form.  We are both the expression of God having a different experience.  When we come together we share our experience and our environment. When we communicate, we come closer (together) toward the center of our mutually shared core "be"ing.

When you and I are apart, we are left (or move on) to experience the presence of God in the other billions of “you” and “I” in the forms of other people, animals, trees and flowers. (The expression: 'One door closes and another opens' comes to mind.)

"You" is in everything and everyone, 'the birds and the bees and the flowers and the trees...and a thing called love.'* The flower knows, I am a rose and another flower knows, I am a lily, still another flower knows I am a honeysuckle. The bee looks and knows the flowers from which nectar might be gleaned.

“You are a honeysuckle flower!” I am a bee (he knows), and “I want your nectar!” And as the bee goes on with his work, little pollens are carried to other parts of the flowers!  They know they are pollen and must travel a wee bit to continue on with their own work in our magnificent world.

“You” are the cat or dog, or bird in the yard who ask me for food, now that “you” know “I” will give you food whenever “I” can and “I” am pleased when “you” purr, wag your tail or chirp!

“You” are the child, or the sister, or the father, or the aunt, or the grandmother, or the mother, or the brother, or the friend, or the love of my life that “I” plan to bring presents for because they make “you” happy. When "I" make "You" happy, I get even happier!

“You” and “I” are one.

"You" be well and "you" be happy!
Amazing beautiful bees filmed up close (a little "buggy" though!)
* this phrase is part of the lyrics from a famous song sung in the 60's!

X is for the unknown and for seeing beneath the surface

X is for  x- factor (what is unknown) in All

X is for the unknown… as in “X” factor.  The only word I know that begins with an X is Xylose…. which is a chemical compound for sugar.

X is used for a lot of things… such as a signature for someone who may not know how to spell, It is very often the 2nd letter of a word that intends to isolate someone or something.  Only X-ray is an acceptable  “X” word. X rays allow us to see beneath the surface.

X is also for X rays….today

noun, Also, x ray, X ray
  1. Physics.
  1. Often, x-rays. a form of electromagnetic radiation, similar to light but of shorter wavelength and capable of penetrating solids and of ionizing gases.
  2. such radiation having wavelengths in the range of approximately 0.1–10 nm.
  1. a radiograph made by x-rays.
  1. (initial capital letter) a word in communications to represent the letter X.
verb (used with object)
  1. to examine, photograph, or treat with x-rays.
adjective
  1. of or pertaining to x-rays.

Seeing beneath the surface is useful in many ways.  We can see what is going on!

X-ray is a vision that is beyond everyday methodology.  X-rays allows us to see the body in depth in that state that it is.

X-rays reveal the physiological truth.  For example… what have I been feeding my body? X-rays have the potential to show that truth.  X rays can also show me what is in my food.  This will allow me to develop a standard of what foods I should accept/purchase.

In getting back to my point as “X” being an unknown factor,  I realize this is how the x as a word is often used.

X is the unknown, it is the place where we set up with the expectation that a manifestation will “automatically” occur. In example, “I want success.” but I don’t know what in… The answer shows up as an “X” factor. It is usually something within my capacity to create or co-create.  The answer shows up, but I cannot  recognize it because it is unknown to me.  I see it, but it is a mystery that I must first solve.

X is for all the mysteries of our experience and our interest in them.  X is usually an answer.

Be well and be happy that we do have the unknown in our lives!

W is for Wisdom

wis·dom
ˈwizdəm
noun
the body of knowledge and principles that develops within.

Wisdom is the knowledge of experience.  Wisdom enables us to implement actions that contribute and benefit the whole in positive ways. Wisdom allows us to make progress on multiple levels. Wisdom allows us to build upon what we have learned.

We often live on the physical surface of our lives, which is why we experience ignorance which I define merely as “not knowing” or “forgetfulness of the truth” or our spiritual nature.  Because we often live on the physical surface, we make mistakes in the physical environment.  However all mistakes can be corrected and are corrected when we grow wise. When we grow wise we grow bigger. To obtain this deeper level of wisdom we must be observant, humble and willing to learn.

Wisdom allows us to become enlightened by opening our minds to introspection. When we open our minds, we can receive the deepest wisdom. This deeper wisdom is felt, understood and silent. Wisdom on this deeper level is a loving force that moves, saves, supports and guides. The wisdom of this deeper level is non judgemental because of the knowledge of cause and effect. This wisdom belongs to all and lives within all. We simply have to "be still" and tap into it.

Be well and be happy and enjoy wisdom!

V is for Value

V is for value
Value  noun
  1. the regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something.
Everyone and everything has value.  Value is a unique purpose that exists for the benefit of all. Value is inherent, which means that it is an internal principle that manifests when people look for it.

Each person and object has value.  When we meet someone (and that includes babies) we don’t know what value they bring to us.  We inherently believe they bring value, but we have yet to identify the value they bring.  The wonderful thing is that in almost every encounter, the value experienced is unique and joyful.

Unique value is expressed in the unique fruit, flowers, vegetables and trees!  Unique Value is expressed in the various animals around us (insects too!) Unique value is expressed in meals we prepare, clothes we design, crafts we make and more. The value is the unique aspect or difference that each of us presents that we recognize.

The value of an apple is completely different from the value of an orange or a grape or a banana or a strawberry, yet they are all equally valuable!  The value of your love for one human and another (your child and someone you experience being in love with) is uniquely different but equally strong! The value of one view of the planet or another (a snow covered valley or a rainforest during spring) is uniquely different but of equal value to the viewer.

Value is the nature of something that we come to experience.  All value is good and with purpose. Each person that we meet brings a unique experience that had we not met them, would not have been possible.

Be well and be happy, for you have a unique value!

U is for Understanding

U is for Understanding
un·der·stand·ing
ˌəndərˈstandiNG/
noun
1. comprehension.
verb (understand)
2.to perceive the intended meaning
adjective
3.sympathetically aware of other people's feelings; tolerant and forgiving.

Understanding allows a flow of feeling between beings that encourages expression and growth. Understanding provides relief from judgment allowing compassion to flow.
Understanding is healing that we can offer ourselves and each other when mistakes are made. Understanding opens the door for empathy and kindness.  When understanding allows us to have empathy and to give our kindness we are assisting in the growth of ourselves and others.

We apply understanding to ourselves as part of self-healing. To allow for self healing, it is important to be truthful with ourselves.  Sometimes there are actions we perform that cause harm. When we come to the understanding that we have caused harm, the first step is to acknowledge the impact.  The next step is to acknowledge our action. The step afterwards is understanding the reason behind our action. This takes reflection. Once we understand the processes behind our actions, we can empathize (with our self) and then…. (the best part) we can can forgive our self. Truthfully speaking, it is God within us, forgiving us. It is God within us showing us what was behind our actions.

Often the actions we feel the most remorse for are those that hurt others.  No one (really) wants to hurt another.  Understanding allows us to see with compassion both the cause and the impact. Understanding allows us to have self empathy and empathy for the other person.  After we understand and forgive ourselves we can then acknowledge that the same being that lives in ourselves lives in others.  We can go to that person that we’ve hurt and acknowledge that God lives in them and ask for forgiveness from God in them.

Understanding is a gift that we can share.

S is for Self

self/
noun
  1. a person's essential being that distinguishes them from others, especially considered as the object of introspection or reflexive action.

Self is the “I” in I am.  Self is the deeply personal individual who is alone within each of us and within all.  There are no other beings within us where the self exists. That means there is no one else other than ourselves to ask, to decide or to blame.  Self is the initiating point of action. Thoughts are the building bricks of realities, but it is self which collects them and builds upon them creating new experiences and realities.

I’m excited to talk about the self, who and what it is and what it means to know "it" "self" that is the deepest level of your own “be”ing.

In order to know the “self” we must turn our attention within.  This can be as simple as closing our eyes, or going to a place where we can be alone. As we turn within our awareness of our inner self increases.  Within this deeper aspect of our self is knowledge that we can draw from. This knowledge supports our ability to make decisions and later to take actions on our decisions. The benefit of this inner knowledge is that it is harmonious.  Being in harmony maintains stability in our personal health and the health of those whose experience we influence (as much as they allow us to).

So who is this “self” that is us?  It is the divine presence of God who expresses as our unique form.  It is the “one” that has become the many, it is the underlying force of our breath. It is the force that moves us to have experiences and to create realities that have never existed before. It is the bond that holds us fixed to someone we love until the purpose of the bond has been fulfilled. It is the intelligent and intricate weaver of the process of separation when purpose has been fulfilled so that new purposes can occur.

The self lives in us and in everyone we meet.  Each of us are the eyes of the self beholding, experiencing and participating in the creation around us.  The self is God manifested in creation.  The self is beyond time, beyond boundaries and is boundless. The self is expanding through new experiences and creations that flow through the magnificent living work of art that we are all a part of.

Be well and be happy today!

R is for Respect

re·spect
rəˈspekt/
noun
a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements.

verb
admire (someone or something) deeply, as a result of their abilities, qualities, or achievements.

Respect is consideration for ourselves, others and the world we find ourselves in.  Respect is an action and a behavior. Respect (action and behavior) is given, not forced.

When someone forces another into a “respectful” behavior, the person who is forced is merely pretending. The other person who has forced the behavior on another is not getting any respect. At that point the relationship is unpleasant and seeds of change are being planted.

Respect is also a popular idea.  However the idea of respect evokes controversy. People have indicated that even if you don’t like someone you can still respect them. I have found that I did not like to be around someone because of their behaviors, yet I could observe some act that they performed which I did respect.  Still I didn’t respect them completely because they were not consistently respectful.  In one area they were successful and demonstrated something worth my admiration, however the same person did some other thing and created a need for distance between that person and myself. In that regard I can also say the same about myself.

In all relationships respect is critical.  With respect, we are able to be patient, kind and open to the opinions, feelings or deliberations of others.  Without respect, we treat each other poorly and the spirit (some might think it is ego, but it is more) cannot tolerate the insult. The insult is lack of recognition of the other’s unique expression of spirit (yes, that would be God!).

Spirit must see spirit in order to journey peacefully together.  If and when I desire the company of another, I desire their respect. However I do not desire their admiration as I do not need it and you do not need mine because we are each an equal expression of God.  I do desire consideration and space to express myself. I also desire to give the other person (or living being) consideration and the space to express their purpose.  Relationships are  partnerships and all relationships are temporary. All partnership journeys are temporary because we are each a complete unique expression of the whole and in the end, we return to the whole where we become one consciousness. Respect is recognizing this consciousness in each other and in the world and behaving accordingly.

Q is for Quality

qual·i·ty
ˈkwälədē/
noun
  1. the standard of something as measured against other things of a similar kind; the degree of excellence of something.
  2. a distinctive attribute or characteristic possessed by someone or something.

Quality is defined as an attribute. However, qualities can be experienced as positive or negative. Equality or Inequality is an experience of quality.

As a practice we tend to seek only the positive aspects of quality.  We are always looking for the good qualities in everything and in everyone. We seek good quality to avoid painful experiences.  It is interesting that we seek good qualities but not perfection.

We often state that we are not perfect and that nothing in the material world is perfect, but we don’t know that as fact because we haven’t met with or come into contact with everything in the world. We don’t expect perfection. Many of us have been taught this idea (not to expect perfection) through our experiences and by others in our lives. Instead of perfection we expect a standard or a degree or level of quality. We expect that qualities are unique to each thing or being.   Our standards provide a degree or level of acceptability.

We acknowledge that not all qualities appear or feel good, yet these aspects show up, such as decay. (In the deepest sense of truth, decay is transformation.) However in our day to day living, we frown on decay and run away from it. However there is a level of decay which we will accept, for example an overripe banana becomes an ingredient in banana bread. So while at some point the quality of the banana has changed it is acceptable at some level for some  useful purpose. (We can still consume it.)

On a more personal level, decay often comes in the form of various illnesses.  Cancer comes to mind as an experience many people fear. We don’t want that experience, but it is so very prevalent.  “Cancer” an uncontrolled division of abnormal cells in a part of the body is a quality of transformation most of us fear. When an organ becomes cancerous it is rapidly disintegrating.  However we are disintegrating or changing all the time. As we become older this transformation or disintegration becomes more visible. We identify this as aging. Many of us don’t like this process either.

We have become afraid of anything that would disrobe our spirit. Again this is primarily because we are not taught about the deeper  truths in our day to day social constructs (school or work and social life). Quality is most of all an experience.

P is for Perfect

per·fect
  1. adjective pərfikt/having all the required or desirable elements, qualities, or characteristics; as good as it is possible to be.
  2. verb pərˈfekt/ make (something) completely free from faults or defects, or as close to such a condition as possible.

Perfect is whole (a thing that is unbroken, undamaged) and complete and brings the experience of peace.  Nothing need be added or subtracted.  Perfect is. Perfect is also a state of being.

Imagine everyone and everything in its perfect form.  A bird, a dog, a child, a tree, a house and any other thing or being.  Imagining it in its perfect state allows us to see the intention of the creation.  We have all observed imperfection.  Imperfection brings sorrow.  However perfection brings joy and hope.  With a perfect model before us we understand and know our path.  With perfection presented we understand what the bar or level of attainment should be.

Perfection has been presented as something to attain, however perfection already exists in every experience and is a state of being that awaits our ability to experience it. Perfection exists in all of creation and in the diversity of it.

Our barrier to experiencing perfection is that we seek fault and ignore perfection.  We are afraid of perfection and prefer to experience imperfection because we are prepared to deal with it.  We are prepared to feel sorrow, disappointment, anger and frustration because they are the low hanging fruit.

Above are the highly placed fruit such as happiness, motivation, hope and excitement!  The emotions that encourage our participation and growth are supported by perfection. Because of the behaviors supported by our current social structure,  we are not prepared or expecting good feelings or good results.  We expect imperfection and imperfection leads to what we consider “bad” or “unpleasant” and the resulting experiences.

Perfection exists all around us.  However we are taught to seek out the imperfections  We are taught to “see” the injustices or to “see” what is wrong with our social structure and what is wrong within each other.  We have not become aware of what this approach does to our environment. We do not understand that this approach creates more of the imperfections we do NOT desire.

We will eventually see and experience perfection when we seek it.   Perfection is all around us. When we learn to  “spy with our little eye”  all of the perfections within creation, we will find that our experience becomes more perfect. With perfect experiences come perfect behaviors and with perfect behaviors comes a perfect world.

I hope that we all want perfection and I hope that we will all seek perfection everywhere.

Be well and be happy!

O is for Omnipresent

om·ni·pres·ent
ˌämnəˈpreznt/
adjective
  1. present everywhere at the same time.
To be present everywhere at the same time.  Now that is a very big concept. It is bigger than big! If omnipresent means that one consciousness is aware and active in all, then that would make the teaching: “love your neighbor as yourself” and “In as much as you have done it unto to the least of these, you have done it unto me.” understandable expressions.

The evidence for an omnipotent force is in the constant movement (energy) and expansion we experience and observe. This energy, movement and expansion is occurring both within us and in our seemingly external environment. Our environment seems external but  everything comes to the external world from within.  There is this osmosis type of relationship going on continuously from the unseen to the seen.

Movement of thought, movement of particles, movement of continuous expansion. Water moves continuously because of the life moving in it and the life force moving through its molecules.  The wind blows us, but it is the life force of movement that brushes the molecules that we feel against our skin.

Omnipresent is to be eternally, fully aware of all infinite perceptions, thoughts, deeds, experiences, pain, fear, anger, confusion, helplessness, hopelessness, visions, beliefs, confidences, intentions, expressions, creations, impacts, outcomes, destructions, dissipations, and calm. To be present everywhere in the air, in space, in the trees, animals, in the water, the earth, in you and in me.

God is always stretching and we are wondering where does the body of this being end?  How big is this being? It is omnipotent and when we are in our finite state we are unable to grasp it. That is precisely why we are always encouraged to meditate and sink into the consciousness of God. We are encouraged to sink into the awareness of the presence of the infinite so that we may feel and understand what omnipresent is.

Beginning steps for meditation.  You can’t meditate if you have no clue of what it is.  Meditation is the practice of remaining still  enough for you (what we refer to as the soul or our spirit) to become aware of the deeper and more complex expressions of God.  Remaining still includes your mind, body and emotions.

One way of thinking about meditation is “to fall into that state,” like falling asleep, only fall into the state of deeper awareness between being awake and sleeping.  The experience can be like a cup of water falling into the ocean.  In this analogy, the “cup” holding the water represents your body. Also in the analogy the cup gets carried away as the water within it spills into the greater body of water that is the ocean, but in reality your body remains where your consciousness or awareness left it.  You won’t feel your body while meditating but you will be present and able to have a deeper experience of existence.  As you grow in your practice your knowledge expands.

Eventually we all arrive at the place where we NEED to meditate! Here is a peak at what someone who has lived a fantastic life has settled into...
